MSPB Goes Live with Public Records Tracker to Provide Online Submission & Tracking of FOIA Requests
MSPB is the latest federal government organization to use Public Records Tracker powered by Microsoft Dynamics CRM to provide a “cloud” solution for efficiently managing and tracking FOIA requests
Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB) has gone live with Public Records Tracker powered by Microsoft Dynamics CRM in the “cloud”, which has given the agency new capabilities for the public to submit Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests online via the Public Records Tracker FOIA Web Portal. Individuals and organizations now may securely create an account, enter the information pertaining to their FOIA request, and track its progress using the auto generated MSPB FOIA Control Number assigned to it. The Public Records Tracker – FOIA Web Portal routes the request to the appropriate MSPB office for a direct response to the requester.
Public Records Tracker has enabled MSPB to centralize requests in a single database, which has enabled a more efficient internal processing of FOIA requests. Also, the system can produce the Annual FOIA Report for MSPB to submit to the Department of Justice.
As MSPB Chairman Susan Tsui Grundmann stated in MSPB’s own press release, “This is another important milestone in our ongoing efforts to „walk the talk‟ on transparency and Open Government, especially when it comes to an area as significant as FOIA. The ability for the public and other stakeholders to easily submit a request and then see what‟s happening with it should help allay fears that it‟s gone into the ether and help hold us accountable for a timely response.”
Public Records Tracker “cloud” solution organizes and automates the management, tracking and response to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests from citizens to federal government.
